We celebrate and sincerely appreciate the generosity of those who support The Langley School. As you consider a gift in support of the school and its initiatives, please keep in mind that all gifts – regardless of size – make a difference. It is the collective effort that supports and sustains our community.
What is The Langley Fund?
The Langley Fund is a vital part of the annual operating budget, contributing to every part of the school’s operation, including athletics, fine and performing arts, classroom technology, fieldtrips, facilities, and tuition assistance.
Why doesn’t tuition cover the operating costs?
As is common with other independent schools, Langley operates utilizing a combination of tuition dollars and donor support. Without these funds, we would not be able to fulfill our mission. The Langley Fund is our most important and impactful fundraising effort because these gifts support the annual operating expenses of the school.
Is an annual fund unique to Langley?
No. Independent schools have long relied upon the generous philanthropy of their communities. Very few independent schools meet full operational costs with tuition alone. The Langley Fund represents 6% of our operating revenue, which is the national average.
What is the difference between the spring auction and The Langley Fund?
The annual spring auction is a party with a purpose – funds raised support professional development for our faculty.
The spring auction is our largest fundraising event, brings the community together, and provides a lot of visibility for sponsors. Spring auction sponsorships are tax-deductible less the cost of goods and services received. The portion above the value of auction items is tax-deductible. Gifts to the Langley Fund are 100% tax-deductible.
